Hello, I’m Fred. I’m a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the BACP, offering counselling to adults experiencing bereavement, loss and the many challenges that can accompany them.

My approach is humanistic-existential therapy. For me, this means meeting you as an individual, without judgement or assumptions about how you should grieve or what you should be feeling, and working together to help you find meaning as you move forward into the future. I aim to provide a warm, honest and pragmatic space where you can talk openly about what is happening for you, at your own pace.

I trained as a counsellor at Cardiff and Vale College and studied Psychology at Cardiff University. I have experience supporting bereaved, pre-bereaved and palliative patients, and have seen how profoundly loss can affect us — emotionally, practically and in our sense of who we are and what life might look like in the future.

Loss can begin before someone dies. Anticipating the death of someone you care about can bring its own mixture of sadness, fear, uncertainty and sometimes guilt. My experience of working with pre-bereaved and palliative patients means I understand that support can be valuable both before and after a death.

I offer in-person counselling from my practice on Cathedral Road, near the centre of Cardiff, as well as online counselling. If you feel that talking with someone might be helpful, please get in touch. We can have an initial conversation about what you’re experiencing and whether counselling with me feels like the right fit for you.
